General Atomics' David Hazlebeck Confident of Affordable Algae Fuel

The academics and the folks at General Atomics think they can get biofuels from algae sustainably and affordably. David Hazlebeck, the General Atomics biofuels chief, said the company has developed a plan to build a 40-acre demonstration plant that would produce algae fuel for $1 per gallon within three years. That does not, however, mean that motorists will be pumping algae into their tanks by 2011.
